Rl Frth #13: Last Airbender, Capt A, Daredevil.

•February 6, 2010 • Leave a Comment

The Last Airbender is set for release on the 2nd of July 2010.

Here’s the trailer.

Adapted from a Japanese Manga called Avatar: The Last Airbender as most would know. Here’s a quickie about this Airbender. Story follows a kid, Aang, who happens to be the last of his kind, thus, the last Airbender, heir to a lineage of Avatars; manipulators of the 4 elements and also fabled bringer of balance to the world at war with the Fire nation.

What did you expect? Its an adapted Japanese manga film with Shyamalan behind the reins. Trailer looks interesting enough though somewhat cheesy. Will we get tricked by M. Night Shyamalan again? It isn’t difficult to shun him away, remember the pain he put us through in Lady in the Water and The Happening?

Just be wary and don’t expect too much if you intend to watch this.

Shyamalan did bring us some good times but his antics in recent years have only resulted in me branding him as a really slow moving train wreck on a rail straight out of Hollywood.

Guess who’s the villain? Dev fucking Patel, alright, he was OKAY being a Slumdog but a villain/prince of the fire nation? That certainly made a huge dent  in my decision of whether to catch it or not. NOT. Its as if M. Night Shyamalan wasn’t a big enough dent.

Captain America is set to start filming at the end of June. Joe Johnston says that the casting announcement is just a few weeks away. But who to play the tart who is brimming with patriotism and saving the world in red, white and blue? Matt Damon? Brad Pitt? Mark Wahlberg? Perhaps Jude Law should get his own Marvel film provided he buffs up a little. The First Avenger: Captain America is set to open on the 22nd of July 2011.

Daredevil’s getting a reboot, or so to speak. The reboot is being planned with one of the screenwriter of The day the earth stood still. Daredevil has been sitting in the forsaken land of 20th Century Fox’s studio for way too long, though they still have the rights to the Marvel superhero, the mother ship might recall Daredevil if our Hell’s Kitchen high flyer is idle for too long. In my opinion, Marvel should probably just do their own films and not let third-party studios make disturbing adaptations. Look at Fantastic 4 and Silver Surfer.

Rumor or not you decide, Logan Lerman in talks to play teenage Spider-Man in the upcoming reboot of 2012. The news was kinda spilled during a short interview with the young man, though nothing is confirmed, Lerman has expressed interest. His age would sit perfectly well in playing a young Peter Parker, then again… ENOUGH OF THE TEENAGE PETER PARKER AND ALL THAT POWER RESPONSIBILITY CRAP.

I have been officially pulled from my current vocation training. Here’s hoping they throw me some where nearer to home with an 8 to 5 vocation.

Well, at least I’m having the time of my life now that I’ve been pulled out. Its 8 to 5 for me! I can go home, use the computer, have a life and most importantly and the sole reason I want 8 to 5 is that I can see ♥regina every single day. She screamed for joy upon hearing the news over the phone and as you know cheap hand phones can get really loud on the receiving end, everyone heard it. Haha.

Darling! Can you see better now which part of the post is meant for your eyes!? Haha.

Tried this cereal from my friend back in camp. Its really, really nice that I’m hooked. It smells of maple syrup and is in the shape of super mini waffles. You’d be able to find it under the children cereal section of most supermarkets.

Reel Forth #12: Marc Webb, Avatar 2?! Spartacus Review

•January 23, 2010 • Leave a Comment

As you all already know, Sam and Tobey jettisoned out of the franchise 2 weeks ago and away they went. Since they didn’t have Sam and they didn’t have Tobey anymore, a reboot was inevitable. The search went on for a new director, speculations speculated, predictions were made, and then came the announcement from Sony during the past week, Marc Webb has been confirmed as the director to reboot Spider-Man.

When I saw the article myself I was quite doubtful about Sony’s choice; Marc Webb. Looking at his filmography, he’s only directed one film. When Sam Raimi directed the first Spider-Man film, he already had a long winding credits trail of writing, producing and directing movies and television shows.

Marc Webb? He just directed (500) days of Summer and before that, a handful of music videos. Though I must say (500) was received pretty well by the critics, but it didn’t make much at the box office. Poor advertising? Maybe.

Still, I’m open to a reboot, not desperate for more Spider-Man. As for the director, not so.. And Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500, 3rd rock from the sun) has been favored by Marc Webb to play Peter Parker. Then again, the reboot’s direction is going towards a teenage Peter Parker (NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! FUCKING MOVE ON TO OTHER VILLAINS ALREADY!), Joseph is 29. Here’s hoping he won’t be our next friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

I don’t really wish to see a Spider-Man reboot about a young Peter Parker. Everybody knows how Peter got his web slinging powers, everybody knows that Uncle Ben said “with great power… … responsibility”. I’m going to laugh it off real hard if I see the Green Goblin as the villain of the reboot.

The date? Reboot’s scheduled for June 2012.

I’m opened to a reboot, I’m pretty appeased that Raimi left the whole gig. Why? For a greater cause of course. To direct the WARCRAFT MOVIE!

So guys, it ain’t so bad after all, you gotta let go of somethings sometime. I’m a Spidey fan but Spider-man clearly had their time, I guess its better that you let awesome directors direct films like Warcraft and leave revisits to rookies.

If I owned Sony Entertainment, I’d scrapped the whole thing if I couldn’t find a director with the same caliber of Sam Raimi.

Nothing much on Star Trek 2 except for Paramount Pictures setting a tentative date for the release of the sequel on 29 June 2012. Full cast is expected to return, well, I EXPECT THEM TO RETURN, NO STUNTS.

Avatar 2. YES! When the question “Would there be an Avatar sequel?” was laid in front of Cameron, Cameron replied “Yes, there will be another”, he also added that the plan has always been to make a trilogy of films. SCREW SAGAS. HAHA. A sequel wouldn’t take as long as it did for the first film since the technology has been perfected, motion capturing tech, environments and creatures. The sequel would most probably move towards either going into the interior of Pandora or the other Moons. Either way, I’m real excited for a sequel. Not to mention Cameron being a veteran of sequels; Terminator 2 and Aliens.

I’m guessing it’ll be ready during late fourth quarter of 2012, or so. Mid-December again to capitalize on the holiday period.

Here’s the new Kickass trailer. Yes, movie’s called Kickass. =] Looks and sounds like a children’s movie, but it definitely isn’t. Watch the Red band trailer and you’ll get what I meant.

Excellent trailer I must say. But we all know about trailers being too good. Hopefully the movie wouldn’t suck. Shows promise.

Here’s the red band trailer.

Releases on the 12 of March in USA, Singapore release date hasn’t been announced yet, probably late April? You know Singapore, “QUICK QUICK GET THOSE LOUSY FILMS FIRST! GOOD ONES COME LATER OR NEVER!”

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will begin filming soon and is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2011.

Watched Spartacus yesterday. Here’s my review.

Well, the pilot to me, was kinda bad, it was pretty tiresome. Probably the way it was unfolded, mainly about how the Thracian (male lead) was sentenced to execution at the gladiatorial games. It kinda went forward and then backwards again, then came the dialogue which was a little unconvincing, didn’t quite feel it. Well, that’s for the pilot. The second episode was slightly better after I accepted the main plot, however, the dialogue really has to improve, who speaks like that in ancient Rome. One more thing, there are just way to many sex scenes. Its like you’re watching a porn, your mom walks in into your room, and every time she walks in you have to switch it to another window cause you don’t want the both of you to have that awkward moment.

Well, story follows a Thracian who was enlisted by the Romans to fight a war with the Getaen. But after a violent incident which involves the Thracian, Spartacus, killing a group of Romans, Spartacus becomes a wanted deserter and returns back to his village just in time to save his wife from a group of Getaen barbarians. Here’s the part I hated about the show, they reunite and they have………….. YOU GOT IT! SEX! And when day broke, the Romans caught up with Spartacus and finds him and his wife asleep, butt naked due to last night’s activities and gets hauled away to slavery for the wife and execution for Spartacus.

I’m not really condemning the show, I’m still pretty interested to see how he gets revenge. Plot’s good, though it resembles some Gladiator films, but its okay. Roman films, you can never get too creative with them, they’re all about their women, their country and good ol’ glorious sex.

But one thing really stood out in all of this, the fight scenes. To me, it was really well done, wicked shit, bloody and gory. Kinda looked like something from Zack Snyder. Awesome stuff.

Its web cam weekend. ♥Regina’s away in New York. Hate it when this happens, I book out and she’s not here and she comes back but I’m already gone. MC? I’m not blaming her of course, I just wished we were a little luckier. Still, I wait for you no matter how long it takes.

2010, Daybreakers, Oden-stophe.

Its been a really long time. Screw what I’m being forced to do. Talk about major disruptions, sign up for a citizenship and they’ll show you disruption.

2010 so far has been pretty dull, that, besides the time spent with Regina. Weekends are really all I look forward to now, for a bigger picture; the end of my service. 2011 October; FUCK. Just 22 more months to go. Yes I know all of this counting down is just gonna make it seem longer than it should be.

Anyways.. Caught Daybreakers yesterday, wasn’t anything fantastic, showed promise for a sequel though. Didn’t quite like the climax and finale. Shouldn’t write “climax”, there wasn’t much of one. Except for the part where by Edward Dalton was exposing himself to the sunlight in the fermentation chamber/vampire-to-human converter.

Yes, the lead’s name is Edward. So “Edward” becomes the new age 21st century name for male vampires.

The movie has quite the potential from its plot but the movie doesn’t quite measure up to it. Still, despite it opening in the midst of a vampire film glut, it certainly is something fresh, a plot with a high potential.

Gory.

Blood-soaked entertainment to kick start the new year.

Avatar is up 300 million making their world wide gross to a total of 1.35 billion, just shy of 500 million to break a record that’s been held for almost 12 years. Best thing is the current record holder doesn’t even have to worry about it being broken. So gonna get the DVD when it releases, May 2010.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are about to reunite with their new upcoming film titled Paul, its about two geeks traveling across U.S. and encountering Aliens outside Area 51. Sounds good to me, coming from Simon Pegg.

Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire has officially pulled out of Spider-man. Who to direct the next Spider-man movie? Who’s interested? Reboot! YES! I’m opened to one, who’s not. Never quite liked Tobey Maguire anyways. A 2012 movie has been planned, its just down to who’s leading it. I’m placing bets on J.J. Abrams and Jon Favreau.

♥Regina and I attempted to make oden yesterday, yes, attempted. Failed terribly due to my misinterpretation of the instructions. We shall reattempt soon as we love this dish so much, besides, its in my list of things to do this year.

Learn a new recipe, or two. Maybe it should be, perfect a new recipe.

Alright, just minutes left before I start to get ready and head back to the hell hole.

Wait for me ♥darling. You’ll see me in a bit.

Reel Forth #11: Iron Man 2, COTT, Sam Worthington.

•December 24, 2009 • 2 Comments

New trailer for Iron Man 2.

***Warning. Mental orgasm at 2:17.

They’ve really taken the special effects on this up to the next level. Whiplash’s whips look pretty impressive. Both Iron Man and War Machine’s suits were visually mind-blowing. No exaggerations. I really feel that way, I just can’t help it! Crazy Iron Man fanatic.

Favorite lines of the trailer.

“(Sound of the gavel hitting the sound block) Mr. Stark, please.”
“Yes dear?”

“I did you a big favor… …I privatized world peace!”

Scarlett Johansson is just nose-bleed material. So is ♥Regina. =]

Don’t you think the film treatment looks oddly familiar. Yup, from the same people who brought you 300, 10,000 BC, Batman as well as Watchmen. Legendary Pictures’ newest masterpiece; Clash of the Titans. This would be Titans’ latest trailer, though you might find it similar to the first one I showed you guys, its actually the same trailer with an extended part behind of say about 30 seconds?

Showy in the sense of the types of mythological creatures in one seating; Pegasus, Medusa, Kraken etc… the creatures looked really impressive against the environment. Especially the Kraken, much preferred to than the one in Dead Man’s Chest I must say. Scorpius looked great too. Gods, beasts and demi-gods all thrown together in an epic royal brawl. Its certain to delight me. Just can’t get enough of seeing Sam Worthington, move aside sissy vampires and shape-shifters. Terminator 4, then came Avatar and now, Clash of the Titans. Though its still about a 3 months away, already getting over excited about this film.

The movie’s a remake of the 1981, Desmond Davis film. Its about gods/titans and follows young Perseus, Son of Zeus, to stop the underworld and its minions from overrunning earth and heaven.

Oh makes me think about Legion. Argh. Epic films. Yes, as well as the upcoming series, Spartacus which will air on the 22nd of January 2010 (USA) 23rd (SG). Title of the pilot is confirmed, “The Red Serpent”, as well as the second episode.

Sherlock Holmes opened. I’m thinking, Avatar would be joined by Sherlock Holmes or will it just trample over James Cameron’s epic science fiction film. And it being Christmas, probably chipmunks 2 would squeeze in for being the only family movie opening this week.

Here’s how I see the box office after this weekend.

#1 Sherlock Holmes (Surely Robert Downey Jr. deserves the spot)
#2 Avatar
#3 Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: The Squeakquel. (Yes, the title can’t be anymore more cheesy)
#4 Up in the Air
#5 Nine

And here we are at the end of yet another year. What has 2009 brought you, I still remember cursing and swearing at 2008 and saying that 2009 could not be any worse than 2008 because all 2008 was, was just hogwash. But now, its changed. 2009 has been great, so please continue to be great for the remaining days.

It has been an exceptional year for films. Highly anticipated films, Watchmen, Fast & Furious, Wolverine, Star Trek, Up, The Hangover, Angels & Demons, Terminator Salvation, Transformers: Rise of the Fallen, Public Enemy, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Harry Potter: HBP, G-Force, District 9, Inglourious Basterds, The Final Destination, Jennifer’s Body, Paranormal Activity, Zombieland, 2012, The Twilight Saga: NewfuckingMoon, Avatar, Sherlock Holmes. Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus will be out on limited release on the 25th of December (USA).

If I had to choose 5… It would come down to District 9, Avatar, Zombieland, Inglourious Basterds and Ice Age. Star Trek came really close.

3 would be District 9, Avatar, Inglourious Basterds.

and my number one film of the year, Avatar.

Here’s wishing everyone a MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS.
